oil capacity?? and service

hey guys doing a service on my 99 rover 220d tomorrw and just want to know how much engine oil your ment to use? also i bought castrol gtx diesel 10w/40, would anyone recomend this?

4.8litres from dry, you'll use slightly less.

10w40 should be fine.

Am I right in thinking that comes in 4 litre bottles ? if so its not enough I'm afraid. As said above you have a little left over from 5 litres.
Don't forget to fill your oil filter before you screw it on.

yea mate ur right, gonna do it in the morning so looks like ill be taking a trip back to the car shop! cheers guys

If you put 4 litres in, its just below the low mark on the dipstick.

ok to drive a few miles to buy a litre.
