CHARLZY's Cup Holder Mod EPIC FAIL !!!

Hi All !!!

Well the LED's went down well but this didn't lol, I attempted to mate a 25 Center Consle with Vauxhall Vectra Pop-Out Cup Holders, the idea was sound, fabrication was a little harder !!!

The first thing I did was to remove the Whole Ash Tray and Cassett tray units by removing all the screws in the back !!!

Next job was to hack off the Cigar Lighter !!!

Once that was done I started triming the Cup Holders down !!!

They still would not fit the center console so out came the trusty 'Black & Decker' Paint Stripper !!!

Well I got them in and they work perfecty !!!

But they Look Gash !!!

TOTAL 'EPIC' FAIL !!!

(New Fail Pic to use instead of 'Shipment' or 'Cat' lol !!!)

Any Suggestions on how to make this work or any other 'Smaller' Cup Holders to use let me know !!!

I hope you enjoyed my Epic Fail lol !!!

CHARLZY

Well, the cup holder looks roughly the same shape and width as the centre console, so why not cut back a bit of the centre console body, behind where the front of the cup holders go, so that the holders fit flush. Once this bit is done, smooth them over as best you can, and fill the small gap 'twixt cup holder and console with an appropriately coloured filler or sealant.

Also, cut off those screw holes from the bottom of the cup holder body.

If all this does indeed work, and it works fine, and looks good, make another one with my nake on it!

Just out of interest, would they not have fitted in with the cigarette lighter / ashtray bit left on?

Your enginuity is boundless my friend, even when it does look a tad dodgy.

Fair play for giving it a go. Without you trying then the rest of us wouldn't know what works and in this case, what sort off works.

It could be done fairly easy, but it would require cutting and using filler or fibre glass, either way you'd need a fair bit of patience, as Si said though, good one for trying new things.

The idea is a good one mate and if you persist with the cutting and then get the fibreglass out you should be able to get it looking semi-decent.

standard milliput - just sculpt it in a little, and paint it ( spray probably be easier! ) so it is a consistant colour, shouldnt take too long to do

im curious if it interferes with your gear stick though, and where will thr ciggy lighter go ?

Really good idea

Would the bottom part of the cup holder fit in the bottom hole of the console?

A bit more fettling, and it'll look great.

Cheers
Dave

It's all a bit wonky, but I would not class this fail as epic.

In fact, the concept is sound and the implementation is full of win, even if it's not full of tidiness.

No need to bin the stereo he's already half way there with the cut out he's done to do this the same as I did.
