Rear fog-light problem
Hi people,
My rear fog lights never worked since I bought the car (its a 1999 - bought it 6 months ago) but it never botehred me cause it was the summer. Now its winter and the fog is kicking in big time so its starting to be cause of concern... I replaced the switch with a new one but to no avail. Doesnt the switch use the same relay as the indicators/rear screen de-mister? Well that relay is fine.. Can anyone help? Also, if it helps, the boot light doesnt work either.. I checked with a multimeter and its dead, no voltage at all. Everything else works fine. |

Have you checked to make sure that both the bulbs are ok? Sorry if that seems too obvious but it is worth mentioning. Otherwise check the fuse and see if there is any voltage in the boot, (to make sure it isn't an earthing problem)

This sounds like a lot of the problems people poted when i asked about my CDL electrical fault....
All the wires...CDL, rear fogs, rear lights, all go through that one big wiring jacket on the top right of your boot hinge.....if they are slightly cut/ripped inside...this could explain it... This is why my CDL was shorting, and why my rear fogs didnt work... Also iiirc some people posted saying the same happened, but there boot light didnt work etc... Might not be that, but worth a check anyway? |

You do not need to cut the jacket. Just peel it back over the wires both ways and check the wiring is ok.

Just adding what my experience was, just so you can rule it out really...
Open your boot... Its held on via hinges at the top... Right hand side... Theres a wire coming from the roof...just next to the hinge... This right hand side houses a big loom of wires, rear lights, boot light, fog light, cdl to boot etc... Over the years the boot up/down wheres away the jackets of the wires...mine had all been buggered...hence my problems... You just pull that jacket either up or down as Sejin said. |

Ah yes Mike,
I already tried this, theyre in grand condition. On the other hand, when I opened the left hand side one I found my rear wiper washer water pipe was snapped ... Easily fixedWhat my problem is... There is no voltage going to the boot lights.. ie. the boot interior... not the reg plates Quote:
