Rover 75 instrument cluster

Hello All,
Left turn indicator light in the instrument cluster no longer lights when turning left, all bulbs flash on outside of car. I thought it would be failed bulb. thanks to advice already given I removed instrument cluster. However, back of unit is held on by tamper proof screws with sticker saying that there are no owner servicable parts inside! Is there a bulb inside or is it an LED or something? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Mike d7

The workshop manual does say that the unit has no serviceable parts

You can run a test on the instrument panel using the instructions in this link-test
The test will at least show if the panel bulb is working.

The workshop manual also says that if 'either direction indicator warning light fails to flash................indicates that one of the external direction indicator lights is not operational (bulb failure or system fault)'. Just in case this could be it check all of your main indicator bulbs again (not the side repeaters).

If all else fails I can only then suggest the 75 version of 'system restore' i.e disconnect your battery, leave for 30 minutes and reconnect. If it is a software glitch then doing so might sort it.

hth

Mike

Certainly sounds like a bulb failure inside the unit tbh. if you can get the right security bit (maplins is normally good) you could always take a peek after trying mikes stuff.

Thank you MattL MikeM

Good advice as always. I will try removing and cleaning each exterior indicator bulb and if that does not work will swop right to left and see if fault changes. I suppose that it may come down to a wrong wattage bulb or even dodgy connection. if I have to delve into the instrument panel then I think it will be a job for auto electrician as I think that the light inside will be LED rather than bulb.
Thank you both

Run test and problem is in instument cluster

Just to tell you that I have run diagnostic test and the instrument light is U/S. So I will either have to bite the bullet and get an auto electrician involved, or try to take the back off and look inside the instrument cluster to see if the bulb is replacable or if it is an LED. Any one know what is in the instrument cluster?
Thanks all Mike D7

There are always new and second hand instrument packs coming up on ebay and it might pay to pick one up just to get the bulb or something. Here's one on now:
